An exciting year for Colorado Filmmakers… Governor Hickenlooper signed the new Colorado Film Bill into existence on May 18, 2012 at 10:30am. In sum, the new incentive doubles the old incentive offering of 10% to an upgraded 20% along with a gap financing plan. It doesn’t put Colorado at the top of incentive offerings (with Michigan offering a whopping 42%) but it certainly levels the playing field A LOT and Colorado will become a fiscal possibility for a lot of producers around the US and the globe.
Coming July 1st, we will be launching a new project called #FilmIsInCO, at FilmIsIn.COm. We’re hoping for a large screening for the public on the 1st and then will hit the internet with the campaign. It will recap the previous conditions for filmmaking in Colorado, have some words from key players in the State, and answer the question “Why Shoot in Colorado”. Stay tuned!
Special thanks to Henry McComas of Crooked Lake Productions for the great shots!
