The supply chain world has changed immensely in the past decade. We started working in the supply chain industry in 2009. In those days, it was impressive to have a well coordinated conveyance system to maximize productivity. But the times have changed… The modern warehouse is now using drones, robots, AI, and it’s all coming together in increasingly complex software to orchestrate previously unheard of productivity. Many supply chain companies are doing vastly more with less labor, and it’s thanks to the profound advancements in technology.
One of these stories we were privileged to tell was with Fleet Feet for Infios (formerly Körber Supply Chain Software). Infios and Locus Robotics worked together to deliver a brilliantly dynamic solution that brought Locus robots to the floor. These robots are goods to person robots meaning the move items in the warehouse to pickers and packers. Pickers can work in an aisle and the robot will come to them, receive items, and then move on to the next computer selected pick location. Once full, the bots will then return to the pack station where goods are ready to be sent to outbound shipping. This not only saves the pickers trips back and forth throughout the day, but it increases the efficiency of each worker by leaps and bounds. We went on site in North Carolina to create this video case study showing off the Infios + Locus solution:
